Prince's family and friends hold private memorial service in Minneapolis

US: Family members and close friends of late US singer, Prince on Friday gathered in Minneapolis to say goodbye to the musician and remember his life said Prince's cousin. Prince died on April 21 at the age of 57 as a result of an accidental drug overdose.


Speaking to KARE-TV, Prince's cousin Chazz Smith said Friday's service was held at a Minneapolis church and another private service was held at Prince's Paisley Park on Saturday.

Smith described the las few months since Prince passed away as hard saying the family is doing its best to preserve Prince's image as others have come forward with false stories about the superstar.

Smith said he's proud to be Prince's cousin adding that he hopes his death from a fentanyl overdose will help others struggling with painkillers.
