Philippines president threatens to exit UN over drug campaign criticism

Philippine: Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has threatened to withdraw his country from the United Nations following UN's criticism of the extra judicial fight and killings against drug trafficking led by his administration.

Duterte's warnings comes after UN human rights experts urged the government to stop its controversial methods of eradicating drug trafficking, which have claimed more than 1000 since  Duterte became president in May.
Duterte who described the criticisms as "stupid", called the UN "useless".
"You now, United Nations, if you can say one bad thing about me, I can give you 10 (about you)," he said,
Duterte then went on to mention the organisation's "failure" to control hunger and terrorism.
"Maybe we'll just have to decide to separate from the United Nations," Duterte said, adding that he would call on China and the African countries to create another global organisation.

Duterte, had announced the restoration of the death penalty after he was elected president and also vowed to end drug trafficking during his first six months as president in accordance with a pledge he made during the electoral campaign, which aided him in winning the election with a large majority.
