IPOB blasts MEND, denies link with group

Nigeria: The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has denied having links with The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta MEND adding that the group is living in denial of the purpose for which it was set up.

This comes after MEND had on Monday claimed that IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu was ready to negotiate with the federal government of Nigeria to renounce Biafra and end his agitation for a break way state in other to speed up his release.

IPOB also clarified that the group was not a secret group and so will not renounce Biafra in secret adding that MEND lacks an understanding of the purpose of freedom fighting.

In a statement signed by the continental representative of IPOB members in Europe, Chika Edoziem, he said;

MEND is “a group of merchants whose stock in trade is to sell the birth right of the Biafran people in the mainland and the riverine areas for a pot of porridge.”

Edoziem said MEND is living in denial of the purpose for which it was set up ''the freedom of the people of Niger Delta.''

Edoziem also said MEND has exhausted all the blood money made through kidnappings, murder and accepting amnesty from slave masters.

“The indigenous people of Biafra IPOB under the leadership of “Onyendu” Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is a movement propelled by a clear ideology and the quest for the restoration of the sovereignty of Biafran Nation CANNOT I repeat CANNOT be compromised, CANNOT be watered down in any form or shape and CANNOT be exchanged by your so called “freedom”.

“The indigenous people of Biafra IPOB have seen groups like you who masquerade as champions of the interest of the Biafran people but are in reality instruments at the hands of the enemy,” Edoziem said.

Mr. Edoziem stated that the paid advert from MEND indicates that the group understand that IPOB is not a secret society.

“Transparency is our watchword we do not enter into secret agreements or negotiations with acclaimed criminals and enemies of the Biafran people. 

“The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) led by “Onyendu” Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will not allow itself to be distracted by irritating house flies and publicity seeking agents of enslavement of the Biafra people.

“Our focus is total freedom of our people from the contraption called Nigeria, our objective is the restoration of the sovereignty of the Biafran nation and our determination is set in stone,” he added.
