Gunman cover in blood barricades himself inside restaurant in Saarbruecken, Germany

Germany: German police say an armed man pouring with blood has barricaded himself into a restaurant in Saarbruecken in southwest Germany Sunday afternoon.

Authorities say the man appeared to be psychologically distressed and with no evidence proving that this was a terrorist-related incident.

Police said it is believed the man was not holding anyone hostage and were trying to negotiate with him but it still unclear how he injured himself.

According to German daily, the Bild newspaper, the man had run into the restaurant, Dubrovnik, in Saarbruecken’s centre and shouted at everyone in the restaurant should leave.

Police spokesman Kurt Schwindling later said the man is a relative of the owner of the restaurant and had entered the restaurant early Sunday morning sending all the cleaning staff outside.

Police say they do not know what kind of weapon he holding.

Police officers are currently negotiating with him and trying to convince him to end the standoff.
