Goodluck Jonathan denies link with Niger Delta Avengers

Nigeria: The immediate past president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan has said he has no link with the Niger Delta Avengers militant group adding that the allegations are fabrications to smear his name after stories circulated that he was the sponsor of the group.

In a statement signed by his spokesman, Mr Ikechukwu Eze, he said those against the former President are assassinating his character by reaching out to media houses with false claims.

“We obviously would have ignored the allegation, having responded recently to the exact same fabrication peddled by a shady militant group, but for the new dimension of bringing in the authorities, while hiding under the often-abused journalism latitude of quoting nebulous ‘sources” the statement reads.
