Football Paper Round: Ozil and Sanchez no closer to signing Arsenal deals
Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez no closer to deals
Arsenal make enquiry for Jeremy Mathieu
Everton set to land Yannick Bolasie
Saido Berahino will run down West Brom contract
Arsene Wenger has admitted Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are no
closer to new deals, according to the Evening Standard. Despite the
Arsenal boss claiming there's no cause for concern, despite the pair
having been in negotiation with the club since September last year and
are yet to advance from their initial position. Both are now within the
final two years of their deals, as Europe's elite remain primed to
pounce is nothing is resolved.
Arsenal have asked about Barcelona's Jeremy Mathieu, according
to the Sun. The report says that the 32-year-old might be drafted in by
Arsene Wenger to fix the growing injury crisis in defence for the
Gunners. Wenger reportedly wants a left-sided central defender for a
cheap fee, as Calum Chambers and Rob Holding are the clubs only fit
defenders heading into the first match day of the season.
Everton are likely to unveil Yannick Bolasie next week,
according to the Sun. Everton are expected to announce the £25 million
deal early in the week, as the winger will move from Crystal Palace
in a transaction that could go as high as £30 million with various
add-on's and success clauses. Crystal Palace and Everton were said to
agree to terms earlier yesterday, with a medical set to occur before the
deal being finalized.
Saido Berahino will finish his contract and leave West Brom for
free next year, according to ESPNFC. The report says that after almost a
year of speculation around the players future, Berahino has told the
club he plans to see out his current contract and will then choose his
next club. It comes after Stoke and Crystal Palace had bids rejected for
his services and Berahino knocked back a new deal from West Brom that
would have made him the highest paid player at the club.
