''Facebook to include more Nigerian languages'' – Mark Zuckerberg says in Lagos

Nigeria: Founder of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg who is currently on a visit in Nigeria has said Facebook would include more Nigerian languages in order to make the world largest social media network more accessible to Nigerians.


Speaking at a meeting with software designers and ICT experts in Lagos, Nigeria, on Wednesday August 31, Zuckerberg said his Social Networking platform would make use of more Nigerian languages while providing services.
“I am glad we support Hausa and we are planning on supporting a lot more languages soon.’’
Zuckerberg who is to meet with developers, entrepreneurs and startups, expressed his delight in working with local content providers in making the internet more accommodating for Nigerian communities adding that these local content would ensure people are connected.

The Facebook CEO said that Facebook hopes to get everyone in the world connected online.

Speaking during his first stop at the Co-creation Hub (CcHUB), a social innovation center in Yaba, Lagos, Zuckerberg said that Nigeria was filled with talented people.
“Thanks for such a warm welcome. There are so many talented people here. I am excited to get a chance to meet some of them.
“This is my first trip to sub-Saharan Africa. I will be meeting with developers and entrepreneurs and learning about the startup ecosystem in Nigeria.
“The energy here is amazing and I’m excited to learn as much as I can,” he said.
Zuckerberg said he had been able to talk with the children at a summer coding camp and entrepreneurs who came to the hub to launch their apps.
