China opens world's longest and largest glass bridge

China: China has opened the world's highest and longest glass bridge to visitors in central China on Saturday. The bridge measures 430-metre long, 6-metre wide glass-bottomed walkway and hangs on 300 meters above a canyon in the Tianmenshan National Forest Park in Hunan province, central China.


Speaking to the the design blog Inhabitat, the vice general manager of the Zhangjiajie Canyon Tourism Management Company, Joe Chen said by June 2017, visitors will be able to hang from the overpass on three massive swings or bungee jump off the side.
The bridge is made up of 99 panes of three-layer transparent glass and also set 10 world records for design and construction, according to the management committee.

The bridge allows a maximum of 8000 visitors to cross it every day.

Officials  had earlier this sent in sledgehammers and also drove a car full of passengers across the bridge In an attempt to encourage the public of the bridge's safety.
