Bomb blast kills three, injures several others in Elazig city Turkey
Turkey: A car bomb attack on a police station
in eastern Turkey city Elazig, has killed at least three people and left about 120 other wounded on Thursday said local security source, an attacked blamed on outlawed Kurdistan Worker's Party (PKK).
The
explosion, took place in the garden of the four-storey building in Elazig, a
conservative non-Kurdish province which had not witnessed much of the
violence arising from the conflict between Turkey and Kurdish militantsPKK commander Cemil Bayik, last week issued a threat to increase its attacks against police in Turkish cities.
Speaking to Haber Turk television, the deputy mayor for Elazig, Mahmut Varol, said the explosion happened on the floor of the police headquarters adding that cars parked nearby also caught fire.
Thousands of people have died in the conflict since the PKK took up arms for autonomy in southeast Turkey in 1984. Turkey and its allies consider the PKK a terrorist organization.
