Beyoncé wins MTV video of the year for 'Formation'

Entertainment: Beyonce has won this year's MTV Video Music Awards for video of the year for her ''Formation'' video, beating the likes of Adele, Kanye West, Justin Bieber and Drake. Bey gave a 16-minute stage performance with her recent hits from Lemonade, working the stages with strong, layered vocals with skilled dance moves and even change of outfit as the audience cheered.

Beyonce started her performance with Pray You Catch Me. She sang Hold Up and Sorry wearing white, but later stripped down to a black leotard with full sleeves.

Queen B grew into the game and twerked while performing Don't Hurt Yourself and ended with the anthemic Formation, "If y'all came to slay, sing along with me,'' she said.

As she walked the carpet with Blue ivy by her side, she said;
''First of all I'd like to thank my beautiful daughter and my incredible husband for all of their support,''
"I dedicate this award to the people of New Orleans.''
Beyonce won the best female video for Hold Up, which was presented to her by four of the Final Five gymnasts, excluding Gabby Douglas, who is in in hospital due to mouth infection.
