40 killed in Pakistan hospital bomb

Pakistan: At least 42 people have been killed and dozens wounded on Monday after a bomb blast at a Pakistani hospital in Quetta, southwestern province of Baluchistan, police said.

According to an eyewitness account, the bomb exploded as mourners, including lawyers and journalists, gathered to accompany the body of Bilal Anwar Kasi, a renowned lawyer who was shot and killed earlier on Monday.

A journalist Faridullah, who was at the scene of the incident told Reuters that more than 50 mourners were at the emergency department of the hospital to accompany Kasi's body when the bomb went off.

No group had yet to claim responsibility for the attack as the motive behind the attack was unknown.

Earlier report by Baluchistan's Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti, say at least 10 people were killed and 30 wounded.

Bilal Anwar Kasi was shot and killed while on his way to the main court complex in Quetta on Monday morning said senior police official Nadeem Shah.

Access to the area was restricted by police who cordoned off the hospital following the blast.
