4 year old girl abused by her mom and boyfriend thinks her name is 'idiot'

US: A 30-year-old woman, Jennifer Denen and her boyfriend Clarence Reed, 47 from Arkansas have been arrested by police after her four-year-old daughter was found tied to a chair and when she was asked what is her name, she replied ‘idiot’.

According to reports by the Sentinel-Record, Denen and her boyfriend Reed, were arrested and detained on Friday August 12 and charged with domestic abuse.

According Child welfare officers, the girl had clearly been abused. She had deep purple bruising on her bottom, lower back and legs, a black eye, a swollen right cheek, a bruise on her forehead, healing scars across her back and dried blood in the corner of her mouth. 

She also had marks on her wrists where she had been subdued and seemed to be malnourished.

When officers asked the girl her name, she reportedly responded, “idiot.”

During an interview, the mother of the girl Denen stated she saw Reed hit the girl on her bottom with a plastic bat.

Reports say Denen allegedly confessed that she didn’t seek medical care for her daughter and that Reed often called her daughter “idiot” while in her presence.

Reed admitted to hitting the girl on her bottom with a thick wooden paddle, but not a plastic bat. He also admitted that he and Denen had used zip ties to tie her to her bed after she was seen climbing the kitchen cabinets.

Reed also confessed that he did called the girl “idiot,” but admitted that it was only a joke.

The couple who are set to appear in court on August 23, are each being held on $US500,000 bond.
