13 people killed in attacks in southeast Turkey

Turkey: At least 9 people have been killed and dozens wounded in a bomb blasts that hit two cities in southeast Turkey on Wednesday security sources say, blaming the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) for the attacks targeting police.

A PKK commander had during the weekend warned of fresh attacks, saying police "will not be able to live as comfortably as they did in the past in cities."

In another related development, four soldiers were killed and nine others wounded early Wednesday after militants opened fire with rockets and long-range weapons from across the Iraqi border, an attack in Sirnak province, security sources also blamed on the PKK.

In an interview by a PKK commander, Cemil Bayik published on Sunday by the Firat news agency, he said;  "a new style of war has been developed"
"The war will from now on be conducted everywhere without distinguishing between mountains, valleys and cities," he said.
Turkey is currently dealing with the aftermath of a failed coup attempt on July 15 which left more than 240 people dead and 2200 wounded.

The PKK has been designated a terrorist organisation by Turkey, the European Union and the United States.
