Thailand: At
least one person has been killed and 23 people wounded after a tourist
hotspot in Hua Hin near Bangkok Thailand was hit by a terrorist bomb on
Thursday. At least 9 foreigners believed to include Western tourists are
among those receiving medical treatment.
According to reports, two motorbikes were believed to have been
involved in the blasts which have left some of those wounded in
critical condition in a market area of the resort.
The bombs are believed to have been hidden inside plant pots and detonated by mobile phone.
The
area have been sealed up by the Thai authorities while casualties are
been attended to as securities agencies collect evidence from the scene.
Hua Hin which is popular with Westerners is reportedly famous as the preferred home of Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
According to a tweet by BBC correspondence Jonathan Head, he said;
"Police in Hua Hin say 2 motorbike bombs injured 11 ppl, some seriously, some foreigners. 1 bomb followed by 2nd; similar to south insurgents."
Thailand has been rocked by series of Islamist terror strikes in recent years, which is linked in part to an insurgency in the south of the country.
