UAE men told to 'avoid national dress abroad' after violent arrest by US police

UAE: The United Arab Emirates has issued an advice to men who are travelling abroad to eschew wearing white robes, headscarf and headband of the national dress. The advice comes after a businessman who visited the United States last week was wrestled to the ground and arrested as an Islamic State suspect.
According to reports from UAE, a female clerk at a local hotel in Avon Ohio called 911 to report what she described as a man with a link to Islamic State.

Another report claims the receptionist at the Fairfield Inn hotel called the police when she heard the man talking on his phone in the hotel entrance hall.

The Foreign Ministry in a message on its Twitter account on Saturday said:
"For citizens travelling outside the country, and in order to ensure their safety, we point out not to wear formal dress while travelling, especially in public places."
In a message on it website, the ministry also advised citizens to obey the laws of countries they are visiting.
The Ministry also alerted women travelling to countries in Europe whose laws prohibit wearing of face covers.
Reports says the man was later released by the police after they realised their mistake.
