Turkey sacks 1577 university deans and 399 civil servants

Turkey: According to reports from state broadcaster TRT, Turkey's High Education Board on Tuesday ordered the sacking of 1577 deans in all universities as part of the ongoing massive purge of dozens of state institutions following last week's failed attempted coup by section of the Turkish military.
The mass sacking spans through state owned universities and privately run universities.

The Turkish government has vowed that all those behind the July 15 failed military coup which left more than 200 people dead would pay a heavy price.

In a related development, state news agency Anadolu announced that 399 employees of the Ministry of Family and Social Policies had been removed from their duties.

Also thousands of people have been suspended from the police force, the military, Finance Ministry and other public institutions and positions.
