Turkey coup: Turkey jets 'fire on coup-plot helicopter'

Turkey: According to State-run Anadolu Agency, Turkish air force planes are flying above Ankara to strike at military helicopters being used by faction of the military attempting a coup.

Anadolu Agency had earlier reported that 17 police officers had been killed in a helicopter attack on police special forces headquarters on the outskirts of Ankara.

Private own media house, NTV also showed footage of what it described as images from a police station in Istanbul, showing military officers reportedly arrested by police.

Commander of Turkey's military special forces, General Zekai Aksakalli, said;
"those who are attempting a coup will not succeed".
In a telephone conversation with NTV television, he said:
"Our people should know that we will overcome this... We are in control of the situation."
 He noted that some deaths and injuries were reported during the coup attempt.
