Turkey coup: Failed Turkey coup attempt claims 194 lives

Turkey: At least 194 people including 47 civilians, 104 military personnel involved in the coup, 41 police officers and two soldiers not involved in the coup were killed in Turkey's failed coup attempt on Friday, said Turkey's acting military chief Umit Dundar.
A faction of the Turkish military had late Friday announced that it was seizing power to restore order to the country.

During the incident, aerial bombings, military blockades and clashes between citizens and armed forces across Turkey were reported.
The government said it has arrested more than 1500 military personnel and has since quelled the uprising.

First Army commander General Dundar who was appointed acting head of the military after Chief of the General Staff Hulusi Akar went missing said;
"Those who betray their state and country will not go unpunished,"
A government official also disclosed that Hulusi Akar has been "rescued from captivity."

Military forces loyal to president Erdogan fought on Saturday to subdue the rest of the coup members which fell apart after crowds responded to President Tayyip Erdogan's call to take to the streets with several military rebels abandoning their tanks.

The military faction behind the coup used tanks and attack helicopters to bombard the Turkish intelligence and parliament headquarters in Ankara, as others blocked a major bridge in Istanbul.

Erdogan said he would clean the armed forces.
"They will pay a heavy price for this," he said.
"This uprising is a gift from God to us because this will be a reason to cleanse our army."
The presidency later announced on Twitter that another uprising could be staged at any moment.
