Turkey coup: 17 police officers killed in helicopter attack in Ankara
Turkey: At
least 17 police
officers have been killed after a helicopter gunship attacked the police
special forces headquarters on the outskirts of Ankara during an
attempted military coup in Turkey which has seen a faction of the
military claiming to have “completely taken over power in the country.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has come out to condemn the coup, claiming it was the work of a minority within the military.
In his broadcast via a video massage on Turkish television, Erdogan said his government would overcome it.
Erdogan also declared that he is still in control.
Civilians who took to the streets to protests the coup have also been injured while trying to cross the Bosphorus Bridge as gunfire erupted in Istanbul.
