Turkey angry as German court blocks Erdogan speech

Turkey: A German court decision stopping Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan from addressing a rally of Turkish citizens in Cologne via video conference runs counter to democratic values and free speech, said Turkey's minister for EU affairs Omer Celik after a German Constitutional Court ruled.

Omer Celik on his official Twitter account on Sunday said;
"German Constitutional Court's decision on the anti-coup rally in Cologne is an utter backsliding in freedom of speech and democracy,"
The Cologne rally has been called in support of Turkey's democracy following a failed military coup attempt on July 15 by a section of Turkish military.

According to reports from German media, German authorities had intervened to stop president Erdogan from addressing the rally via video conference due to worries over public order.
