Teenager jailed after police caught him with step-by-step terrorist guide and beheading videos

UK: A 19-year-old teenage student Cubeyda Jama has been jailed for three-and-a-half years after he was caught trying to go to Syria with a step-by-step guide on how to be a terrorist.

Jama was arrested at Stanstead airport as he attempted to begin his journey to join the Islamic State terrorist group.

Jama who was trying to board a flight en-route to Bucharest, Romania, on February 5 was carrying a baggage loaded with terrorist materials and survival gear.

A phone with videos of ISIS beheadings, a laptop, a map of Turkey and a USB stick which contained a declaration of loyalty to the Islamic State were found in the baggage.

Jama had used his student loan to acquire materials for the journey which includes a laptop, maps of Turkey, and booked a one-way flight for February 5 this year.

A court heard that Jama’s laptop include the Google searches, “How to reach the Syrian border”, “Paths to ISIS” and “How to get ISIS.”
Jama was arrested and detained after security officers raided the plane before take-off and searched his luggage.

The Finnish student confessed to a charge of assembling acts of terrorism by preparing travel arrangements and putting together materials to travel to Syria or Iraq.
