Saudi billionaire dies two weeks after his supermodel ex-wife was awarded £75m in court divorce settlement
Christina Estrada could now have her settlement delayed.
At the time of court proceedings, Dr Juffali, who is the chairman and heir of EA Juffali and Brothers, one of Saudi Arabia's most successful companies did not appear in court as he was in a Swiss hospital receiving treatment.
The court hearing was however brought forward due to his deteriorating health.
Mrs Justice Roberts, a High Court Family Division judge ordered Dr Juffali to pay Ms Estrada the huge sum by 4pm on Friday July 29 which could now be subjected to delay due to his passing away.
Ms Estrada currently in St tropez has been informed of her ex husband's death and was said to be devastated by friends
Ms Estrada met Dr. Juffali in 2000 and got wedded soon after. The couple had a daughter together. The marriage became rocky after Dr Juffali's decided to marry a 25-year-old Lebanese model in 2012 while he was stilled married to Ms Estrada.
Dr. Juffali divorced Ms Estrada in 2014 in Saudi Arabia under Islamic law without her knowledge.
Earlier this month Ms Estrada, took the 61-year-old to the High Court where her fight for a share of his fortune became one of the highest-stakes divorce battles of its kind.
Ms Estrada stated her 'needs' included £40,000 for fur coats, £109,000 for haute couture dresses and £21,000 for shoes every year as well as £495,000 for five cars - three in London and two in the US.
Her lawyer claimed that the award becomes the biggest needs award ever to be made in an English court.
Her lawyer estimated her ex husband was worth £8 billion but Dr Juffali rejected the claims in a hand written statement that the figures was over exaggerated and then put his worth at £113.8 million. Dr. Juffali said in a statement that he had left huge majority of his wealth to his three eldest children including his daughter with Ms Estrada.
Ms Estrada told family judge Mrs Justice Roberts:
‘I am Christina Estrada.
'I was a top international model. I have lived this life. This is what I am accustomed to.’
According to a source, Ms Estrada said she's been worried about this day adding that she loved him to the end.
‘Christina had, throughout his illness, sent him messages and prayers of hope.
‘She has not thought about the settlement. Her priority is her daughter. She’s young and she’s just lost her father.’
