Russian couple, Dmitriy Sagal and Anastasia Loginova have won the World
Wife Carrying Championship title held in Finland announced organizers.
Dmitriy Sagal carried his female teammate Anastasia Loginova around the 253-metre sand track in 1 minute and 2 seconds. The couple had finished third in last year's competition.
35 couples from Australia, Germany, Sweden and the United States, took part int he race competition held at the Sonkajarvi track, on Saturday which included a one-metre deep water barrier.
Although carrying styles differs, but in some cases the woman is carried upside-down over her teammate's shoulders.
Defending champion, Ville Parvaianen from Finland who won in 2014 and 2015 - although with different partners finished third with teammate Janette Oksanen.
According to the rules, contestants do not have to be married, but that female teammates must at least be 17 years old and weigh at least 49 kilograms, adding that "all the participants must have fun."
The wife carrying contest is one of several odd competitions held during the summer in Finland.
