Nice attack: Islamic State group claims responsibility for Nice attacke

France: ISIS has officially claimed responsibility for the brutal massacre in Nice on Thursday describing Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel as a “soldier” of the group after the Tunisian drove a truck into a Bastille Day crowd killing 84 people and wounding several others.A “security source” was cited by Aamaq news agency as saying the attacker “carried out the attack in response to calls to target citizens of coalition countries fighting the Islamic State”.

Five people has since been arrested over the deadly Nice attack.

Police had raided Bouhlel’s home where they found fake weapons and held his estranged wife for questioning.

Bouhlel was described as a petty criminal, a violent depressive and a loner who showed no apparent sign that he was a devout Muslim.

Two automatic weapons, ammunition, a mobile phone and documents in the truck were found in the truck.

Bouhlel who was know by the police had a criminal record, including a history of threats, violence, petty theft and was sentenced to six months in prison for a road rage incident earlier this year.
