Near East University Cyprus organises workshop in Italy

Cyprus: The Near East University (YDU) Cyprus in collaboration with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation of Germany, organized a workshop in Italy tagged: “Opportunities and Risks in Cyprus”

Officials from the EU, Germany, Greece, Israel and Turkey who took part in the workshop, discussed and expressed their opinion on the future vision of the Turkish Cypriot community in a united Cyprus.

Also discussed at the event, was the opportunities and risks in Cyprus in the event of the latest developments in the region.

Representing the Turkish Cypriot community at the workshop were former Turkish Cypriot negotiator Ergun Olgun, director of the Near East Institute, Dr. Umut Koldas, and the rector of YDU, Dr. Irfan Gunsel.

Speaking at the workshop, Dr. Gunsel emphasized on the importance of the increasing the international representation of the Turkish Cypriot community not only in the academic field but also in the political field.
He also stressed the need of preventing the Greek Cypriot side from single-handedly representing the whole of Cyprus at international meetings and conference especially on important matters such as in economy, health, education and tourism.
