Man arrested after attempting to steal the Olympic torch on the streets of Sao Paulo (video)

Brazil: An unidentified man from Brazil attempted to steal the Olympic flame while it was been paraded through the town of Guarulhos in Sao Paulo on Sunday morning.  The man was arrested by officers of the National Public Security Force after thrusting out to grab the torch. See video below

In the video footage the flame bearer is seen running along the road surrounded by security officials.

The suspect dressed in black then dived for the flame torch before being quickly knocked to the ground.

The suspect hits a female police officer, injuring her in the head, just a few meters in front of the torch bearer.

The flame will reach Rio de Janeiro’s Maracanã Stadium on August 5. The incident did not however affected the parade through the route which is expected to continue into the centre of Sao Paulo on Monday.
