London police chief warns of imminent terror attack

UK: Following the recent terrorist attacks in Germany and France linked to Islamist militants in the last few weeks, London's Metropolitan Police Commissioner Bernard Hogan-Howe in a statement on Sunday said; Britain cannot be fully protected against terrorism and an attack similar to those seen recently in mainland Europe is a question of "when, not if".

The warning by the police chief put into review Britain's current "severe" threat level for international terrorism.
According to Hogan-Howe, in a post printed in the Mail on Sunday newspaper, he noted that Briton's were becoming increasingly concerned they could be next.
"I feel and understand that fear, and as the police officer in charge of preventing such an attack, know that you want me to reassure you. I am afraid I cannot do that entirely,"
"Our threat level has been at `severe' for two years - it remains there. It means an attack is highly likely - you could say it is a case of when, not if."
Britain's newly-appointed Security Minister Ben Wallace said he had met with owners and operators of the country's biggest shopping centres to discuss their security measures.
Speaking to Sunday Times newspaper, he said;
"In light of events in Germany and France, the government is keen to ensure that shopping centres and sports stadiums where there are large crowds are getting the support they require."
