Liverpool signs Wijnaldum from Newcastle United

Football: Liverpool have completed the signing of 25-year-old Newcastle United midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum on a five year contract for £23 million up front with an extra £2m in add-ons for his services after undergoing a medical.

Wijnaldum will now join up with the rest of the Liverpool team for their preseason tour in the United States.In a statement on Liverpool's official website, Wijnaldum said;

"I'm really excited because Liverpool is a big club with a great history and it's always a dream to play for as big a club as Liverpool."

On working with Klopp, he said;

"[He seems] a great man -- from the outside -- because I don't know how he works yet and I have to work with him.

"[But] I always love to watch him, his passion as a coach, I like how he enjoys the game. He gives something back to the group [with his passion] so I look forward to working with him."

The Dutch international who joined Newcastle in July 2015 from PSV Eindhoven for £14.5m, scored 11 goals in 38 Premier League appearances for the Magpies last season but could not stop the club from proceeding into relegation to the Championship.
