Kurdish car bomb attack kills 3 in Turkey

Turkey: At least three people have been killed including two soldiers and a civilian with several others wounded after Kurdish militants carried out a car bomb attack and then opened fire on a military outpost in southeast Turkey on Saturday.

The attack comes a day after Turkish troops killed 19 PKK fighters in clashes around the mostly Kurdish region.

According to sources, the attack targeted the Cevizlik village military outpost in Mardin province, which borders Syria, adding that military reinforcements were dispatched to capture the attackers.
Those injured in the attack included 23 soldiers, 14 civilians and a member of the village guard who has been assisting the army in its security operations.

A military statement said;
The army spotted militants planing an attack on Friday on an army base in the Semdinli district of Hakkari province, a mountainous area near the Iraqi and Iranian borders.
The statement added that the armed forces killed 17 PKK guerrillas in the subsequent clash and seized guns, grenades and ammunition.
