Istanbul's deputy mayor shot in head by unknown gunman
Turkey: The deputy mayor of Istanbul's Sisli district, Cemil Candas was shot in the head by an unknown
assailant on Monday and is in a critical condition, as reported by Turkish broadcaster NTV.
It was not immediately known if the attack was linked to Friday’s failed attempted military coup in Ankara in which more than 300 people were killed.

According to reports, the gunman had entered the deputy mayor's office and then gun shots were heard.
Turkey’s main opposition party, the Republican People’s Party (CHP) had condemned the attempted coup along with other opposition parties.
Turkish authority say they have arrested more than 7500 people since the incident.
