Gunmen seize Armenian police station, take hostages

Armenia: A group of armed men has attacked a police station in Yerevan’s Erebuni district in Armenia capital killing one officer, wounding two and taking several others hostage said Armenia's security forces on Thursday.
The attack was carried out by members of an opposition group demanding the release of their jailed leader, Jirair Sefilian, who was arrested in June on charges of planning to overthrow the government.

Police have cordoned off the area around the station.

According to the National Security Service, negotiations were on going with the attackers for the release of the hostages.

A high-rank police official, who spoke on condition of anonymity said the attackers who were about 20 in numbers were holding at least eight officers hostage.
