Football Paper Round: Zidane confirms Real Madrid interest in Man Utd target Paul Pogba
Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has revealed that he's a big
fan of transfer target Paul Pogba - reports The Sun. Pogba has been
heavily linked with moves to both Real Madrid and Manchester United this
summer, but Zidane's comments are the first major indication that the
Spanish giants are
intent on signing the France international. A
world-record fee would be required to secure Pogba's services, but
Manchester United remain in the hunt despite this latest setback.
Russia facing Rio Olympics ban
Russia could be banned from competing at both the Olympics and
the Paralympics if the International Olympic Committee acts on the
advice from the World Anti-Doping Agency - reports The Telegraph. A WADA
report released on Monday revealed that the Russian Ministry of Sport
was directly involved in a doping cover-up before and during the Sochi
Games in 2014. Russia are facing a complete ban from Rio later this
summer, although the IOC say they will take their time to consider the
report's findings.
Manchester United's star summer signing, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, has
responded in typically brazen fashion to a video message from Eric
Cantona - reports The Mirror. Former United star Cantona had welcomed
Zlatan to Manchester in an exclusive video for Eurosport, saying that
the Swede could be the Prince of the city, but that he would always be
the King. But not to be outdone in the grandeur stakes, Ibrahimovic has
responded by saying: "I admire Cantona and I heard what he said. But I
won’t be King of Manchester... I will be God of Manchester."
