Female tourists angers Rome locals after stripping and jumping into a 400-year-old historical fountain

Italy: Three tourist caused uproar in Rome after they were captured stripping down to their bikinis and hopping into a 400 year old historical fountain, the Fontana dell'Acqua Paola to cool off the summer heat. See more photos below
Locals of the city seeing temperatures of 32C took to social media to vent their anger at the women's lack of respect for 17th century monument.

One local magazine write:

"It is very hot but the fountain of the Janiculum can not become a pool... Rome deserves more respect!"

The post was re-tweeted over 300 times, with many angry Italian replying;

One user named Lucien wrote;

''You should go and do something similar in England or Germany, I'm going tomorrow in my boxer and swimming cap'' 

Another Twitter user named Serena said::

 "These [women] are so rude."

One wrote on Twitter

 "These young girls are giving meaning to ancient remains that are generally ignored!"
