Donald Trump picks Indiana Governor Mike Pence as running mate
US: US Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump, in a Twitter message on Friday announced Indiana Governor Mike Pence as his
running mate and pick for vice president at the November election.
Trump who was expected to make the announcement today in a news conference decided to postponed it till Saturday due to the recent deadly attack in Nice France which left more than 80 people dead.
Gov. Pence, 57, who is staunchly conservative served six terms in
Congress before being elected governor of Indiana.
Gov. Pence announcement as Trump’s
running mate came just an hour before a deadline for Pence to
withdraw from his re-election race in Indiana with state law prohibiting
candidates from being on the ballot in two races.
