Dangote drops out of World's Top 100 Rich list as the Nigerian Naira crashes
Nigeria: Africa and Nigeria richest man, Aliko Dangote, has dropped out of the list of the top
100 richest people in the world as a result of the devaluation
of the Nigerian Naira.
Dangote who now worth $11.1 billion remains richer than American billionaires, Donald Trump whose worth is estimated as $4.5 billion, and Oprah Winfrey whose worth is $3.1 billion and rated as the second richest black woman in the world.
The devaluation of the Nigerian Naira against the dollar from about 198 to around 300, in June by the Central Bank of Nigeria swept away about a quarter of Dangote’s wealth.
According to reports from Bloomberg billionaires, Dangote, who owns the world's second largest sugar-refinery was worth $15.4 billion (N3.05 trillion) in March, but is now worth $11.1 billion (N3.3 trillion) which richer in the Nigerian naira but poorer in US dollars.
