Dallas Shooting: Sniper told police he wanted to kill white cops because he was angry about Alton and Castile shootings
Dallas police chief David Brown said that one of the suspected gunmen in the ambush who was identified as 25 year old Micah Xavier Johnson told authorities that;
“he was upset about the recent fatal police shootings” of black men in the US and “wanted to kill white people, especially white police officers.”Brown added that the suspect said he wasn't affiliated to any terrorist organizations.
Police said they spend hours negotiating with Johnson before he was killed by an explosive strapped to a police robot while he holed up in a local college.
"We're hurting," "our profession is hurting. Dallas officers are hurting. We are heartbroken. There are no words to describe the atrocity that occurred to our city."Brown said.
David Brown also said;
“We had an exchange of gunfire with the suspect. We saw no other option but to use our bomb robot.”
Officials had earlier claimed that at least two gunmen were involved in the shootings.
Three other suspects including two men and one woman have been detained by police, said the Mayor of Dallas Mike Rawlings.
David Brown pleaded for unity in the wake of the attacks saying,
"This must stop - this divisiveness between our police and our citizens."
