Cristiano Ronaldo to have Madeira airport named after him in honour of his services and sucess with Portugal at Euro 2016

Portugal: 31-year-old Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo is to have the Madeira airport named after him following his success with Portugal at the just conclude Euro 2016 held in France. President of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque, said on Friday that the island's main airport will be renamed the Madeira Cristiano Ronaldo airport.

Ronaldo already has a bronze statue, a museum and a hotel named after him in his birthplace Funchal and the capital of Madeira.

President Miguel Albuquerque said the decision is an acknowledgement to the services and the popularity the Real Madrid star has attracted to the region of Madeira and Portugal at large with his football career and business ventures in the area.
