3 days of heavy rain in China leaves 50 dead and 12 missing

China: At least 50 people has died and another 12 missing with thousands of homes destroyed after three days of heavy rain in southern China as more areas along the Yangtze River prepares for more floods, said authorities. 

According to the provincial civil affairs department, torrential rains led to the deaths of 27 people and left a another 12 missing in central Hubei since Thursday.
The department added that, almost 15,000 houses have been destroyed with more than 500, 000 hectares of crops affected leading to direct economic losses of 5.669 billion yuan and almost 400,000 people have been removed in the province.

Dafang county government said, 23 bodies were recovered in mountainous Guizhou province in the southwest, after a landslide buried a village on Friday, adding that seven people were wounded.

Vice Premier Wang Yang last month warned of a possibility of high floods in the Yangtze River and Huai River basins this year.
He said the situation was made worse by "super El Nino". El Nino is the natural warming of parts of the Pacific Ocean that changes weather worldwide.
