Two killed, 80 wounded in Madagascar terror attack

Madagascar: Two people have been killed and 80 others wounded in a stadium attack in Antananarivo, Madagascar capital when a grenade exploded during Madagascar's independence celebrations on Sunday.
The blast struck the stadium at around 4pm, just when a free concert was taking place to mark the celebration.
Madagascar Prime Minister Mahafaly Olivier who visited the victims of the attack in hospital labelled the attack a "terrorist act."
Olivier strongly condemned the attack, describing it as a "barbaric act".

President Hery Rajaonarimampianina who also visited the victims at the hospital blamed the attack on tensions with political opponents in the country.
"There may be differences of opinion between us, but these acts of destabilization are unacceptable," He added that "we will not respond to the violence with violence"
Last week the commander of the gendarmerie, General Florens Rakotomahanina, warned security operatives were on high alert due to the national holiday and the increasing rumours of violence.
