Texas mum has British accent after surgery

US: A Texas woman, Lisa Alamia, from Rosenberg who she was diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder, now speaks with a British accent after undergoing surgery on her jaw six months ago.
Lisa, a mother of three who had a corrective surgery for overbite, has ended up with a different intonation. See video after the cut

Lisa has been put through a series of tests to determine the cause of her new condition by her neurologist, Dr Toby Yalto, but has so far failed discover the cause of the condition known as foreign accent syndrome.

In an interview, Lisa said;
 "I didn't know the reaction I was going to get from people. So I didn't know if they're going to judge me.
"Are they going to think I'm lying or even understand how I'm speaking?"
 According to her, family and friends now make mockery of her for the accent, after first thinking she was fooling them.
"People who don't know me, they're like 'hey were are you from? I'm from Rosenberg'. They're like 'where is that?' I'm like 'right here in Rosenberg'. 'Oh you're from here how do you talk like that?'
"'Mum' is probably the one word I notice right away. 'Kitten' is another. They think I'm talking about a baby cat. I'm not. I'm saying, 'I'm just kidding'."
Lisa is hoping her accent will eventually return to normal soon.
