Shocking footage shows Chinese bank employees being publicly spanked for poor performance
Reports says, 8 employees- 4 men and 4 women were paraded on stage in front of their colleagues for alleged poor work performance by the trainer Jiang Yang. They were then asked, “Why are you ranked lowest today?” which the employees responded;
“Because I have not exceeded myself”
while another shouted: "I didn't make a breakthrough!"
A third person blamed a lack of teamwork for his poor performance.Yang then moved up and down the line, spanking them on their behind with a large stick.
Other employees sitting and watching the ordeal can be seen turning their heads away in disgust, as each employee is struck.
The video has attracted social media amusement and criticism alike.
"Since when does beating employees become a way of raising performance?" asked Weibo user Denny Tangmashi.
Another declared: "They need to be beaten with a stick!"China's banking oversight body labelled the session as "improper", adding it had suspended the bank's chairman and a deputy governor and ordered Mr Jiang to make a public apology.
Yang absorbed the bank of any responsibility and apologized explaining that spanking was “a training model he has used for years”.
The bank also stopped the training session, with discussions in place to compensate the affected employees.
