Pistorius family receives violence threats
South Africa: Family of former South African blade athlete, Oscar Pistorius who is currently facing murder charges for the death of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, has reported a case of threat and extortion attempt to the police.
This is coming just few days before Pistorius sentencing on July 6 for the murder of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
Police spokesman Hangwani Mulaudzi, on Monday said they are currently investigating the alleged violence threats made in
WhatsApp messages to Pistorius's cousin, Arnoldus Pistorius.This is coming just few days before Pistorius sentencing on July 6 for the murder of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
"We are aware of the allegations,"said Mulaudzi.A spokesman for the Pistorius family, Anneliese Burgess said the man who sent the messages initially told Pistorius' cousin that he had evidence that would compromise evidence for the prosecution at Pistorius' sentencing hearing last week.
The man had requested for payment for the alleged evidence and got vulgar when he was told he wont get any money for the evidence, Burgess wrote in an email.
According to the message transcript, the man had threatened to organize for Pistorius to be attacked in jail if he is sent back there.
