Niger Delta Militants planning to invade Ogun State– Police Commissioner
Nigeria: The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, on Sunday warned that militant from the Niger Delta region were planning to
storm the state.
Speaking with news men in Abeokuta, Ali stated that the
militants were seemingly finding it hard to operate in the Niger
Delta region due to the increased military presence to halt its activities. This is coming just days after Imushin community in Ogijo area of the state was reportedly invaded by suspected militants, where more than 15 people were wounded.
The police boss however confirmed that only three persons were killed when the rampaging militants invaded Imushin community.
“It’s not true that 15 people were killed there. The DPO Ogijo was on ground; he reported that only three people were killed and their bodies have been recovered from the scene,” Ali said.He asserted that if adequate measures were not taken, the militant activities may develop into insurgency.
“The militants are finding it difficult in Niger Delta and Ikorodu area of Lagos State. They are now moving to our side in Ogun. They are the ones involved in kidnapping and sorts of crime.
