Melissa Etheridge records new song ''Pulse'' to honor victims of Orlando shooting

US: American singer, Melissa Etheridge has recorded a new song titled "Pulse" to honor the victims of the Orlando shooting on Sunday. The song title is a reference to the the name of the gay night club "Pulse'' where a gunman had killed 50 people and wounded 53 others.

"Everybody's got a pain inside/ Imaginary wounds they fight to hide/ How can I hate them, when everybody's got a pulse," she sings on the touching track.
During an interview with Rolling Stone concerning the new song, Etheridge spoke about writing the song while on tour.
"I'm dealing with it the way I deal, which is, I wrote a song. That's how I first started to cope because, as a singer songwriter, I feel very... I've done this before. I feel called to speak; to do what musicians do," she said.
"We've been the town criers for hundreds of years. We're mirrors of society. We want to try to make sense. We want to try to heal. We want to bring some meaning, some purpose. We also want to put it down forever in history. That's how I'm coping."
Etheridge stated on Twitter on Sunday that she was working on a new song about the tragedy,
"From my window @FreedomTowerNY is lit up rainbow as I am writing a song...#Pulse #Loveislove #Orlando."
The music "Pulse" will soon be available for sale with all proceeds going towards an LGBT charity.
