Court sacks Governor of Abia State, Ikpeazu, orders him to vacate office

Nigeria: A Federal High Court in Abuja, Nigeria on Monday ordered the Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, to vacate his office immediately after he was found guilty for submitting false information to his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) during the party’s governorship primary in December 2014.

Ikpeazu's political rival at the primary, Uche Ogah petitioned the court and provided evidence which revealed that Ikpeazu has actually submitted false information about himself to the party.

After listening to the counsel of both politicians, the presiding judge Justice Okon Abang in a judgment ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately issue a certificate of return to the plaintiff, Uche Ogah, who recorded the second highest number of votes in the primary.
