12 terror suspects arrested by Belgian police for plotting imminent attacks

Belgium: 12 people has been arrested by Belgian police amid security alerts in a major anti-terror raid overnight in Belgium and France concerning the ongoing Euro 2016 football games.

In a statement by the Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel during a meeting of the government's security council after the raids on Saturday, he said football related events would continued as planned with extra security measures.
"We want to continue living normally," Michel said. "The situation is under control."
"We are extremely vigilant, we are monitoring the situation hour by hour and we will continue with determination the fight against extremism, radicalisation and terrorism," he said.
The office of the Belgian federal prosecutor's had earlier said 40 people had called in for interrogation with 12 of them arrested "in relation with a criminal investigation concerning terrorism."
"The investigating judge will decide on their possible detention later today. The investigatory results necessitated an immediate intervention. The investigation continues," it said in a statement.
No weapons or explosives was found during the raid, which also included 152 lockups garage.
According to reports in the Belgian media, the people arrested during the raid were suspected of planning an attack in Brussels this weekend during one of Belgium's football games.
Potential targets also includes areas where fans watch matches in Brussels as well as other crowded places such as shopping centres and train stations.
