The clashes between the army and the Patriotic Resistance Front of Ituri, an ethnically based militia, took place during the night in the villages of Kienge and Sibado.

According to army spokesman, General Jean-Pierre Bongwangela, ten militia members and one civilian were killed during the clash.
He added that two government soldiers were also seriously wounded.
