10 children killed in Russia lake storm

Russia: At least 10 children between the age of 12 and 15 years has been killed in a storm on Lake Syamozero in northwestern region of Karelia near the Finnish border, Russia.

According to a local Culture Ministry official, Yekaterina Biktimirova, he said;
“A group of 49 people on Saturday left for rafting. The group was not registered with the emergency services,”
She added that the children were in company of adults.
“At night, they were caught in a storm. We already know about some victims,” Biktimirova added.
Local emergency service confirmed the recovery of ten bodies.
Media reports said the the children who were tourist from Moscow were on two boats that capsized into the lake. The report said at least two people were still missing and 13 had been rescued.
Search operation involving more than 60 people and several helicopters were sent to the site of the incident.
In a statement by the Mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin through Twitter, he said;
“A big tragedy happened in Karelia,” “I offer condolences to relatives and friends.”
