Two earthquakes shake Larnaca area in Cyprus

Two relatively minor earthquakes of 4.2 and 3.3 shook the Larnaca area at 3:18 and 5.16 am respectively on Thursday morning. The epicenter of both earthquakes was the area around Klavdia, 13 kilometers west of Larnaca and were felt in both the Larnaca and Nicosia district.

There have been no reports of damages or injuries.
The first quake was at depth of 10 kilometers while the second was at a depth of 6 kilometers.
The Geological Survey Department said it was monitoring the development.

According to the Geological Survey Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, the earthquake’s epicentre was 13 km west of the city of Larnaca.
A second quake of 3.3 magnitude on the Richter scale followed at around 5:16 am.
There have been no reports of damages or injuries. 
The Geological Survey Department continues to monitor and collect information. 
According to the Director of the Department Costas Constantinou, there is no reason for concern since in this area earthquakes are rare and of a small scale.
