Mourinho, who was sacked by Chelsea in December 2015, has constantly been linked with the United job ever since.
Louis van Gaal who still have a year to go on his 3 year deal have been poor for much of this season, and also failed to qualify for the Champions league this season after crashing out of out of both  European competition.

United finished for fifth place in the table, but they could still end the campaign with silverware if they beat Palace in London this evening.
According to Spanish newspaper AS, agreement was reached between Mourinho's agent Jorge Mendes and United's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward earlier this week.
It is also believed that the Mourinho, will earn £11.6m a season at United.
van Gaal, though, has maintained that he will be in charge next season as he has one year remaining on his current contract.
